Today, we're going to be going over a comparison guide on the two project management platform tools, ClickUp and Monday.com. Both have really good features that allows you to keep track of deadlines, tasks, and automate systems within your business.
But there are a few differences between these two platforms that can make a huge difference. So if you're wondering which tool is best for you, then keep reading this post because we'll be going over everything you need to know like price points, all the different features, and which one is best for your business management.
Let's get started, taking a look at Monday.com's pricing, we can see that they have four different pricing plans, as well as an enterprise plan, but most of you guys aren't going to go for that. If you're just starting out, they have a free plan, so this will give you up to two different seats on your workspace.
Also, Monday.com have other plans like basic, standard, and pro, with the basic starting at $8 per seat per month. And when we are taking a look at their yearly plans, you're going to be saving 18%. If we were to pay monthly, then the basic plan will start at $10 per month.
Now moving on to ClickUp, we can see that they have less plans. They have a totally free plan, they have an unlimited plan for $7 per member per month, and then the business plan. And again, most of you guys aren't going to be using their enterprise.
And so when comparing the yearly costs, we can see that ClickUp is cheaper overall. But if you guys do only plan on sticking with the free plan, then Monday.com offers up to two seats on your plan, as well as more storage, because you can see right there, that ClickUp only allows 100 megabytes. And as we can see on Monday.com, you can get 500 megabytes of storage on the free plan.
But when we take a look at the file storage when it comes to their basic, standard, and pro, you guys can see that it's capped at around 100 gigabytes, which when we compare that to ClickUp, we can see that just off of their unlimited plan, you get unlimited storage.
So this is just $7 per member per month, whereas even with the pro plan on Monday.com, where you're paying $19 per seat per month, you're still limited at 100 gigabytes of storage.
Another really big difference between their free plans is that with ClickUp, you're allowed to create unlimited tasks. But with Monday.com, with the free plan, you're only able to add up to 1000 tasks. And yeah, you only get access to unlimited tasks once you upgrade to their basic plan, which is $8.
Now when it comes to their paid plans, I would say that the biggest thing that you guys have to watch out for is the automations.
Monday.com, they don't start until you upgrade to the standard plan. And even at that point, you only have up to 250 actions per month. And then with the pro plan, you have access to 25,000 actions per month.
So that's a pretty big jump. And I would say that's definitely worth it if you're going to upgrade to the pro plan. But if we go to ClickUp, we could see that on the free plan, you actually have access to 100 automations per month already.
Then once you upgrade to the unlimited, they have access to 1000 automations, 10,000 automations, and then 250,000 automations for the enterprise plan.
So ClickUp definitely has a more gradual upgrade. And you also have access to automations right away with their free plan.
But if you need more than 10,000 actions per month, then maybe Monday.com's pro plan might be better for you.
Another big difference that's pretty important is their privacy. So with Monday.com, you only have access to private boards and documents once you upgrade to the pro plan.
But with ClickUp, you have access to private docs right as soon as you upgrade to the unlimited plan. With that, you guys can see that ClickUp is a little bit better in terms of value for the price.
But now let's talk about each of these platforms individually.
With ClickUp, I think the biggest issue is the limited use features on the free plan with things like smart notifications, milestones, and sprint goals being limited to 100 times. Once you hit that limit, you're going to need to upgrade to a higher plan.
But a pretty big feature that they have that Monday.com doesn't have is that you have the ability to record a video on the platform. This is great for teams that want to be able to explain a concept to another team member, and they could do so within a task using a screenshot or a screen recording.
With Monday.com, we already went over that they have less automations and actions overall than ClickUp when going with the lower plans and the fact that you can only create private docs on the pro plan. But I would say that the biggest pro is that it's very beginner friendly and it's less complicated than ClickUp.
In my opinion, Monday.com look a little bit more aesthetically pleasing than ClickUp. But overall, if you're trying to choose between the two platforms, ClickUp is the clear winner. If you're a super small business or you're a solopreneur, then you could probably get away with being on the free plan on either of these platforms.
But in our experience, automations are super important. So if you guys are looking for the best platform for that, then again, ClickUp allows you to start automations right away on the free plan. Anyways, that's our take from our personal experience.
But let me know in the comments what you guys think. Also, if you guys are interested, we'll leave links down below to ClickUp and Monday.com for you guys to check them out. And yeah, I hope this post is valuable to you guys.
